In many cases, the original design of a precipitator can be enhanced by taking advantage of a technologically superior collecting plate design. PECO's "EuroAmerican" style collecting plate combines the best features of the typical American and European collecting electrode systems to produce an exceptional component. The unique PECO design has been developed to avoid problems encountered with traditional collectors. Furthermore, the mounting system for the plates can be adapted to allow retrofitting the components into most OEM arrangements.
The PECO collecting plate is made up of a series of vertical roll formed channels and sheets bolted to structural support tubes on top and bottom. The vertical roll-formed panels and channels are connected along their length with mechanical fasteners, instead of ineffective alignment clips or stress-inducing welded joints. In addition to its in-service effectiveness, this arrangement forms an integral structure frame that is extremely resistant to warping during handling and installation.
A collecting plate design should be reliable and effective in both the field and during laboratory testing. PECO's plate has proven its worth in both venues. One laboratory proving method is to conduct accelerometer tests using a full scale plate test tower and an impact rapper. This method verifies whether or not a plate design has the acceleration responsiveness necessary to meet the demands of today's industry. High acceleration response, along with uniform force distribution, eliminates rapping "dead zones" and permits lower rapping intensity and frequency, as well as preventing structural fatigue stress caused by high impact rapping.

PECO's Rigid Discharge Electrodes (RDE's) are the ideal choice for both new and retrofit precipitator applications. In spite of a slightly higher initial capital investment, PECO's RDE's are cost effective because they have a significantly longer lifespan than bottle-weighted wires. There is virtually no maintenance cost or down-time associated with this style of electrode as compared with other designs. The PECO RDE is easily customized to meet all of your precipitator needs with various stud spacing designs and end orientations available.

The Electromagnetic Impact Rapper has been used widely for the past three decades and still is the proven leader in precipitator rapping applications. It has a long history of reliability, excellent performance and low maintenance. Older design rappers and vibrators can result in high maintenance requirements and excessive failures. Rapper problems degrade the performance of the precipitator, sometimes requiring a cut back in process load. PECO's Electromagnetic Impact Rapper offers a low cost and highly reliable replacement. As the name indicates, it is an electromagnetic device with the plunger being the only moving part. The vertical configuration is supported from the precipitator roof, eliminating rebound related failures and maximizing acceleration response to the electrode system.
